Fast Interactive 3-D Graph Visualization
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a 3-D version of GEM [6], a randomized adaptive layout algorithm for nicely drawing undirected graphs, based on the spring-embedder paradigm [4]. The new version, GEM-3D, contains several improvements besides the adaptation to 3-D geometry. The main result of this work is that for the first time, 3-D layout and presentation techniques are combined available at interactive speed. Even large real-life graphs with hundreds of vertices can be meaningfully displayed by enhancing the presentation with additional visual clues (color, perspective and light) and the possibility of interactive user navigation. In the demonstration, we interactively visualize many graphs (artificial and realworld) of different size and complexity to support our claims. We show that GEM3D is capable of producing a textbook-like drawing of the PETERSEN graph, a notoriously hard case for automatic drawing tools. To the best of our knowledge, this has not been achieved before by automatic layout algorithms purely based on heuristics.

WiGis: A Framework for Scalable Web-Based Interactive Graph Visualizations
Traditional network visualization tools inherently suffer from scalability problems, particularly when such tools are interactive and web-based. In this paper we introduce WiGis –Web-based Interactive Graph Visualizations. WiGis1 exemplify a fully web-based framework for visualizing large-scale graphs natively in a user’s browser at interactive frame rates with no discernible associated startup...
متن کاملInteractive Visualization of Complex Graphs
We aim at a visualization framework that empowers the user to reveal information that is not obvious just by looking at the graph. The keys to reach that goal are interactive graphs in combination with well established visualization methods. Techniques such as multiple views, linking & brushing, and focus + context are already implemented in the system. Furthermore the application is designed f...

متن کاملCarina: Interactive Million-Node Graph Visualization using Web Browser Technologies
We are working on a scalable, interactive visualization system, called Carina, that helps people explore million-node graphs. By using latest web browser technologies, Carina offers fast graph rendering via WebGL and works across desktop (via Electron) and mobile platforms. Different from most existing graph visualization tools, Carina does not store the full graph in RAM, enabling it to work w...
متن کاملVisualizing Large Datasets in TOPCAT v4
Abstract. TOPCAT is a widely used desktop application for manipulation of astronomical catalogs and other tables, which has long provided fast interactive visualization features including 1, 2 and 3-d plots, multiple datasets, linked views, color coding, transparency and more. In Version 4 a new plotting library has been written from scratch to deliver new and enhanced visualization capabilitie...
